Cellulitis is medically defined as an inflammatory disease affecting one’s body tissue. It is accompanied by redness, swelling, warmth and series of pains. It is caused by a bacterial infection usually by the streptococci and staphylococcus aureus found in our skin. It is called breast cellulitis if it occurs on the breast. Some of cases of breast cellulitis extend the swelling to the upper arm and shoulder.
The occurrence of cellulitis in the breast depends on the risk factors which include previous history of lumpectomy with lymph node dissection in cases of breast cancer, and pregnancy and diabetes which affect the normal blood circulation.

The most common symptoms includes redness of affected area, spreading of swelling area, pain and body aches, in some cases, fever and chilling, vomiting, decreasing appetite for food and breast abscess and lymph. These symptoms will follow infections if mistreated or untreated.
Like ordinary cellulitis, it can be cured using oral antibiotics ready and available in the market called over the counter medicines. These may be bought even without the doctor’s prescription. Breast cellulitis treatment varies according to severity of the disease. Mild and moderate cellulitis can be cured using traditional medical process at home. Antibiotic like penicillin is the most common method to treat it. More serious cellulitis requires proper medical attention although it is very remote to have such cases as life threatening.
