The face of a human being is one of the most prone areas of the body to cellulitis causing bacteria. The face absorbs a lot of dust and pollution from the inside and outside environment of a person thus making it vulnerable to viruses, fungi, and bacteria. One way of avoiding cellulitis is through practicing personal and proper hygiene such as taking a bath regularly and by visiting the doctor at least once a month in order to be assured of one’s health. Exercising is also one way to prevent sickness and infections since exercising is one way to boost a person’s immune system. Eating healthy foods and observing proper diet is also one effective way to prevent physical and dermatological ailments that is why physicians recommends its patients to have a healthy lifestyle through eating nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables thus reducing risks of infections such as nose cellulitis complications.

Nose cellulitis is the most common case of cellulitis in the United States since most people disregard this kind of infection. Its victim thinks that the simple red nose is just natural and was a result of a simple common cold. The most common symptom of this kind of infection is that its victim suffers from inflammation in the nose and has a tomato like color that becomes redder and redder as time goes by. The nose on the other hand gets bigger and bigger making its victim suffers from irritations. Cellulitis on the other hand must be treated immediately in order to avoid making the situation much worse since cellulitis may lead to further health complications.

Cellulitis of nose can be treated by means of proper medication and by seeking appropriate medical attention. One way to treat this kind of skin infection is by drinking antibiotics since this kind of medicine can help kill bacteria in which is the major cause of cellulitis. The immediate treatment for nose cellulitis is by cleaning the infected part with soap and water and by consulting the help of a dermatologist in order to avoid the spreading of the bacteria.

Cellulitis is a serious skin infection which, when left untreated, can cause complications that can be more serious than the skin infection itself. The infection has a very rapid incubation period and only takes a couple of days to develop and spread. However, if treated early and properly, the skin infection generally is gone within one or two weeks. Adult cellulitis is as serious as any other forms of the skin infection and requires the same antibiotic regimen. But if left untreated, the infection leads to bacteria in the bloodstream or bacteremia, blood poisoning or septicemia. Those that were infected through an open wound ran the risk of having gangrene which destroys body tissues. The possible consequence of a serious gangrene infection is amputation of the infected body part.

To prevent further spread of the disease, take the medications prescribed by your doctor properly. This means that you do not cut back on taking them once symptoms disappear. Get proper medical attention on the affected area. Such as if it requires a hot pack or something which will help cure the infection. There are occasions that cellulitis will worsen even if taking a cellulitis antibiotic. In such a case consult back with your doctor to see if you need additional medicine. In case you are already on medication and instead of being healed, you develop more symptoms consult with your doctor immediately.

Unaffected adults need to clean up any skin openings like abrasions, cuts and other skin breaks no matter how superficial. An antiseptic soap is great for this purpose. Keep those wounds clean and protected by covering them with a gauze bandage. Consult a medical practitioner on what should be done in case you develop signs of cellulitis infection. Lastly, if you have Diabetes or belongs to the high risk group for the skin disease, take all the necessary precaution against cellulitis as contacting it will surely put your life at risk. It is good if you have a regular physical check up so if ever you do contact the disease, you will know right away what your personal medical risks are.

Periorbital Cellulitis, or also known as preseptal cellulitis, is the inflammation or infection of the eye area, especially on the eyelids. It can be caused by wounds in the eye area or by an upper respiratory tract infection called sinusitis. Infections from other parts of the body can also lead to periorbital cellulitis as it can rapidly spread through the bloodstreams. Since the eyes are considered a very important part of the body, you should take utmost care in administering treatments in case you are facing the infections caused by cellulitis.

Difference of Periorbital Cellulitis from Orbital Cellulitis

This type of cellulitis is different from orbital cellulitis, which is a much severe case, although it also pertaining to the infection on the eye area. More aggressive medical treatments and even surgery are needed to cure orbital cellulitis while these are not recommended for periorbital since it is a less complicated situation.

People commonly infected by periorbital or preseptal cellulitis are those below the age of ten. Therefore, periorbital cellulitis is usually handled as a pediatric case. Unlike the orbital cellulitis, patients with periorbital cellulitis do not experience any swelling of the eye area, decrease in eye movement, or even the occurrence of pain on the affected area.

Causes and Treatment of Periorbital Cellulitis

Just like any other type of cellulitis, periorbital cellulitis is caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. Putting make up on and failing to wash it off before sleeping can be one of the main causes of periorbital cellulitis. Failing to practice proper eye care may cause the bacteria to build-up especially on the eyelids.

In treating periorbital cellulitis, consulting your doctor is necessary, especially with an ophthalmologist. Antibiotics will be prescribed to the patient depending on the need for anti-bacterial medication. If there is persistent upper respiratory tract infection or sinusitis, there is a need to visit your otorhinolaryngologist so that the proper medication and treatment can be given, as it is a separate infection. Again, there is no need to undergo surgery, however, a vaccine may be used to stabilize and minimize the occurrence of periorbital cellulitis. The vaccine developed for this type of infection is called the Haemophilus influenzae vaccine.

Periorbital cellulitis infection, commonly known as preseptal cellulitis, is a serious disease causing infection and inflammation on the eyelid and other portions of the eye. This infection is a serious matter as it can pose serious damage to the soft tissues around the eye that can lead to loss of vision. Usually, this type of infection is caused by the spreading of infection from the membrane, which covers the outer part of the eye. Once the membrane around the eye is infected, there will be a massive infection around the eye, which will cause swelling, pain and high fever. Although anyone can acquire periorbital cellulitis, commonly affected by this infection are children and youths.

Causes of Periorbital Cellulitis

Periorbital cellulitis is usually acquired through an infection of the sinuses near the nose. This type of infection can be the result of any pain to the area around the eye or it may be an extension of another infection on your body. The main reason why many people are infected by periorbital cellulitis is either because of an insect bite, injuries on the skin or either because of touching the cut or injury with an unclean hand. In addition, people with low immune system are more prone to having this infection.

How to Prevent Periorbital Cellulitis

To prevent periorbital cellulitis from happening, you need to consider many things once you have incurred a cut or sore. The first thing you need to do is to keep your hands clean. Bacteria can travel from different distances with the use of the hands. If you accidentally caught bacteria in your hands and you touched the cut on your eye, then you can be assured that periorbital cellulitis will soon take effect. Regular washing of the hands can also prevent periorbital cellulitis. Washing your hands properly could fight eliminate any bacteria on your hands and may lessen the risk of cellulitis. If you have incurred a cut near the eye, it is best to consult a doctor. Doctors are the best people to help you prevent any infection that can lead to any serious threat to your eye.

Cellulitis is a skin disease that is usually caused by Staphylococcus or Streptococcus group of bacteria. This skin infection usually attacks the deeper skin layers namely the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. This condition causes redness, itching, swelling and pain on the affected skin portions. These symptoms cause a lot of discomfort to a person. Hence, many people are asking if it is indeed possible to contract cellulitis twice or more in their life. The discomfort and hassles of the disease is too much that people want to be sure that they do not get this condition again.

Can cellulitis occur twice in a person?

Cellulitis infection can actually happen twice, thrice or more in a person. Being infected by a bacteria-causing cellulitis does not render you immune from future infections. The most common cause of cellulitis is the Staphylococcus and Streptococcus group. However, these are not the only types of bacteria causing the said infection. Many other bacteria such as the Pseudomonas aeruginosa could also be the cause of cellulitis. Recurrent cellulitis could happen because you may be infected by one of the many types of bacteria that may cause cellulitis.

Why does some cellulitis become recurrent?

Recurring cellulitis is possible because of many factors. Among these factors are:

1.	Immunocompromised people – People with weak immune systems could have cellulitis re-infection. Normally, the immune system protects us bacteria and other types of microorganisms. However, people who are immunocompromised such as those with AIDS are prone to getting the infection again. Their body defenses are too weak to ward off the infection.
2.	Diabetics – They are prone to getting cuts and wound that go unnoticed, especially on the foot part. Some diabetics may also have decreased pain sensation so skin breaks and infections proliferate without getting prompt treatment. These skin breaks become easy entry points for disease causing organisms, especially those causing cellulitis.
3.	Those with multiple disease states – When cellulitis is combined with other disease conditions, the body becomes overwhelmed with trying to fight the bacteria. Hence, people with other diseases could be prone to getting cellulitis again.

Cellulitis is one of the common body ailments people suffered today. It is medically described as an inflammation of body tissue particularly that of below the skin, that is characterized by fever, swelling, redness and pain. It usually spread in the skin if left untreated.

The initial treatment for cellulites is to take antibiotics prescribed by physicians but many patients attempt to cure it using antibiotics that are immediately available to them. Some of these cellulitis antibiotics are obtainable over the counter and can be bought even without physician’s prescription.

What people do not know is that there are different bacteria causing cellulitis that can only be cured by taking proper antibiotics. Streptococci and staphylococcus aureus are the most common of them associated to cellulitis. For mild to moderate cellulitis doctors prescribe penicillinase-resistant synthetic penicillin or a cephalosporin. For most severe cases, intramuscular injection and careful prescription of cephalosporin are used as treatment.

Without knowing how to use these cellulitis treatment antibiotics, the effect is the same as if there were no treatment made at all. Patient should be very careful in his treatment. There are cases of cellulitis that needs long-term therapy when there are frequencies of episode. They require proper dosage to suppress the attack.

Some patients cease using antibiotics when upon taking them, the swelling becomes less visible. This practice should be avoided. One must complete the prescribed regimen to obtain the best treatment result. If the doctor prescribed one-week antibiotic intake, then one should take it for one week. The typical regimen for oral antibiotics is for ten days.

It is advisable to inform the doctor of any changes in the patient’s body tissue, it may be caused by the medicine as a side effect brought by the antibiotics. Consultation with the doctor is always helpful as he can give the patient direct and correct prescription. Cellulitis treatment varies from its severity. It may only require home treatment or hospital treatment. Physician’s advice is still the best primary action for cellulitis treatment. When your health is at stake, you should not put everything into chances. Make sure that you live in a healthy lifestyle.

Cellulitis is a skin infection that is caused by bacteria that sticks to a human being’s skin. The bacterium that is the main common cause of this kind of skin infection is the staphylococcus and the streptococcus bacteria which can be found in bacteria or fungi contaminated water. A cellulitis infected skin becomes reddish in color in which is very irritating and painful on the part of the patient. Cure for cellulitis is prescribed by physician in which can be purchased from pharmaceutical stores around the United States. Medication on the other hand should be done immediately in order to avoid cellulitis from spreading.

What are the symptoms of cellulitis?

At first, red marks start to appear on the infected part of the skin. The medication for cellulitis must start at this point in order to prevent further spread of the bacteria on the person’s skin. Fever comes next to this in which the skin of the patient starts to warm up and suffers chill at the same time gets tired easily. A person who has cellulitis sweats more often than regular. Sores appear on the infected site in which will later on lead to loss of hair in the infected area. Seeking medical attention at this stage is very crucial in order to avoid further skin complications.

How can an infected person cure cellulitis?

Antibiotics are the common medicine being prescribed to a patient that is suffering from cellulitis. Curing cellulitis often requires a patient to be confined in the hospital especially if the irritated part is near the eyes or any sensitive parts of the patient’s body. Controlling the heating pain can be aided with the help of an analgesic however the prescription of a doctor is needed since there are medicines that should not be taken by a patient since they might be suffering from other sicknesses such as cancer and allergies brought by medicines. There are also external medicines that can be used to cure cellulitis such as anti-bacterial creams and ointments in which serves as an immediate treatment for the first few symptoms of cellulitis.

Facial cellulitis is commonly caused by the streptococcus and staphylococcus bacteria. It can be contacted from immersion in fresh or saltwater or through an open wound which the bacteria can invade. Sometimes it has no apparent cause at all. It affects individuals of any age and spares no one. The skin infection is usually found in the legs, arms and face areas. It is when it occurs on a persons face that it is most dangerous especially in children. The infection is so serious as to warrant a separate name; facial cellulitis. This form can lead to some serious difficulties especially in children that those complications of facial cellulitis cannot be underestimated.

A child showing symptoms of facial cellulitis should be taken to a doctor as soon as possible. These signs include facial swelling that is reddish in color. The child is in pain and having fever with accompanying chilling. His tongue would be swollen and tender. He also exhibits lack of appetite and is nauseated. Cellulitis in children can affect the eyes. When such an infection occurs, it is called periorbital cellulitis. This form of the skin affection can affect the whites of the eye as well as swelling the eyelids.

When periorbital cellulitis is present, the optic nerves and the eye muscles are at risk. The skin infection can easily affect these tissues, which cause vision impairment that often leads to permanent blindness. Leaving such a skin infection as cellulitis untreated then, can lead to blindness at an early age. Another complication of the skin infection in children is bacterial meningitis caused by the spread of the infection on the child’s bone. There are cases where the blood is infected as well which causes serious blood poisoning or sepsis. Early detection of the disease plays a vital role in the complete treatment of facial cellulitis in a child. Any telltale sign of the skin infection should then be taken seriously by the parents. There is an added risk of a child being infected by any disease for reason of his age, so watch out for even the slightest signs as early prevention results in an early cure.
