Cat Bite Cellulitis: The Hazards Brought by Pets into the House


Pets are considered part of a family and children love to play with their pets. These pets on the other hand can become hazards to a children’s environment since the attitude of an animal is very unpredictable. Cats are loved by children because of their warm cuddly attitude however cats are major carriers of cellulitis causing bacteria that can be very harmful to a child’s health. Cat bite cellulitis is one of the major child cellulitis case treated in the United States. Having a cat vaccinated with anti rabies is insufficient since rabies is only a virus while cellulitis is a bacterium that can be transferred to a human being in which can be the cause of cellulitis.

Cats as a Cellulitis Bacteria Carrier

Cats are also one of the major carriers of bacteria that can cause cellulitis. A child has a low immune system thus making them much more prone to bacteria and diseases. There is a large amount of animal bacteria in cats since even though they are always inside houses; they are still susceptible to different kinds of diseases that may be transferred to a child. Avoiding these kinds of risks is somehow almost impossible because these cellulitis causing bacteria attacks silently making its victims unaware of this skin complication.

Unsuspecting Bacteria Carriers

Animals are also the major carriers of bacteria that are why when a child gets bitten by an animal, immediate treatment must take place in order to avoid further bacterial complications. Animal cellulitis is very common in a pet that is why it is very important for a parent to watch over their children when playing with animals. A child by nature wouldn’t have any idea about the causes of simple animal scratches and bites that is why the health of a child still depends on their parents. When a child gets bitten by a cat or any kind of animal, the appropriate treatment for this is to bring the child to a physician for examination in order to avoid the spread of bacteria that may lead to further complications. One way to avoid animals from bringing foreign microorganisms into the doorsteps of the house is thru bathing them regularly at the same time disinfecting their kennels and their places of stay.
